Wednesday Night Art Class

all media and styles

ages ( 13 through adult)

Class spots are currently available!

as it’s a class that runs through out the year. With students starting and stopping at different points. Please call to reserve your spot, and start class soon.

.....................

-This is a long running class. Students come in and out. Some staying with the class for years, others months or  weeks or more. It is up to the student, but a minimum of 6 weeks is recommended.

-The cost is $35 per evening ( cash, check or visa or mastercard accepted)

- Runs from 6:30-9:30pm every week. But students are welcome to arrange a schedule where they come every other week if it suits their schedule better. We typically break for holidays. And if I have to cancel art class ( which is rare)I always call each student as well as send out an email, and a text message.

-Class typically has between 4 to 10 students. And fluctuates throughout the year.

-I always send out an email between Monday & Tuesday to remind everyone of class, and share any other additional weekly info.

- I ask students to contact me of they can't meet for class. Preferably 24 hours in advance if possible.

-I allow the student to choose their medium. ( and may switch to a new medium if they choose). I teach colored pencil, graphite/charcoal, watercolor, watercolor & colored pencil mix, acrylic, oil, and pastel. Students are at all different skill levels, from beginner to experienced. And each student is allowed to choose their own subject matter and style ( landscape, portrait, still life, figurative etc. & all styles). But the student may be asked to complete a small general painting or drawing of a simple subject if they are a beginner in the medium they choose. This is done specifically to introduce the student to the basics of their chosen media, without overwhelming them with a complicated subject matter. As well as being beneficial for myself, the instructor, as it helps me determine where the student is as far as skill level, etc. Which allows me to better customize my teaching to best suit their needs.

-Students are responsible for providing their own art supplies. I will discuss with a new student what art supplies they already have, and what they may still need. If they have an internet connection and email, I will email them a detailed supply list with pictures and links to the supplies at Dick Blick art store, etc. I always try to keep a students required supplies to a minimum investment, unless they specify a desire to add more supplies to their collection.

-My teaching method is very hands on. I will offer as much instruction as the student needs or desires. From explaining exactly what color to use or mix to achieve the desired result, as well as demonstrations, and other examples of techniques etc. I handle my classes much the same way I experienced my art classes in college. I walk around the room checking on students periodically. As well as encouraging students to speak up when they have a need. I also offer individual and group demonstrations. This specific Wednesday night class is one that is very open and friendly, and at times lively. They are a good group who like to chat in between and while working. The atmosphere is very relaxed. But I am known for pushing my students to achieve their personal best results. But always maintain an atmosphere of ease, where working at your own pass and enjoying your art is also of equal importance.

-This Wednesday Night Art Class is one where I always have some snacks available. Usually something salty /crunchy, with a fruit item, and sometimes a sweet time. Also ice water is served, as well as some weeks wine or champaign. Some students bring wine or champaign in for the class (taking turns), and I also will supply the wine or champaign. Participating in the bringing and sharing of the wine is completely up to the student and is not required. And anyone participating must be 21 years old or older. Students get up at their leisure to grab a plate and enjoy the snacks. Music is also played in the background.

And we try to do an Art & Dinner Night once every 2 months or so. I typically provide the main dish, and the students bring complimentary side items. On such nights we usually meet an hour in a half early ( at no extra class cost). Tis allows us to eat an socialize in a relaxed time frame and then begin class on time at 6:30pm. Participation in the Art & Dinner night is optional. If a student chooses not to participate they are welcome to come at the normal class start time.

-We also try to hold an "Art Instructional DVD Viewing Night + Pizza + 6:30 Art Class" once every 2 to 3 months. Which is where we meet an hour in a half early to watch a instructional art dvd ( media varies), share pizza and then begin art class at 6:30.

-We also try to paint or draw in a plein air setting ( out door painting) a few times or more during the warmer more pleasant months.

-Other art classes are offered, private, and group, adult and children, as well as Workshops. And some of these courses or workshops are specific to media while others are open media. But the times of availability vary throughout the year.  Currently the Wednesday night art class is the one class that runs year long.

-Wednesday Night Art Class is held on the far west end of Springfield. Please contact Tiffany for further information.
